From Changing Brakes To Recommending Trailer Parts

Changing Brakes In '48

It all started in 1948 with my grandfather, James Mair, when he founded Mair's Auto Parts. He was changing brakes and clutches for four years before his two sons joined him in the family business.

In 1952, George and Alan (my father) incoporated the new company as Mair's Clutch and Brake Service. My grandfather was thrilled to finally be working with his sons.

The Challenge Of Their Lives

In 1954, only two years after joining their father, James Mair's death left his two sons scrambling to run a business still in its infancy. What they lacked in experience, they made up for it with hard work.

For the next ten years, working twelve hour days, and sometimes weekends and holidays, the young company would be propelled towards prosperity. This strong work ethic would serve my family well as we entered into the economic uncertainties of the 1970's.

Expansion And A Third Generation Of Mair's

In 1969, my father and my uncle George knew that the time was right to expand into a larger facility. Mair's Clutch and Brake Service would find a new home in Ville-St-Laurent, Quebec, Canada. My family's business was on its way to becoming the largest independent brake and clutch specialist in Canada.

It was during this exciting time that I, Doug Mair, joined my father and my uncle to continue a family tradition. The year was 1974, and I would run the business with the benefit of my father's experience for the next twenty years.

In 1996, after forty years in the auto parts industry, my father, Alan Mair, retired. My uncle had left fifteen years earlier to pursue other interests. In 2002, I sold the business and the facilities to start a new adventure in the online auto parts industry.

CanadianBrake.com Is Born

In 2004, I started CanadianBrake.com as one of the first online brake retailers that offers quality brake parts at competitve prices for the North American automotive market. As the online market grew, so did CanadianBrake.com.

CanadianBrake.com now sells brake pads, rotors, drums, and shoes for both regular vechicles and the ever expanding High Performance Brake Parts industry. The High Performance industry has also led us into suspension parts and High Performance Wheels.

Discount Trailer Parts And Kits

As an avid do-it-yourselfer, I have always done all my own parts installation and maintainance for all my family's vechicles. I guess changing brakes and clutches just comes naturally!

I needed a trailer for my son's dirt bike, so I decided to make my own. I knew that I would also use it for heavier cargo, so I made it with durability as a top priority.

When I started shopping around for trailer parts, I quickly realised there were not many suppliers who would sell you individual parts at a good price. What started out as a project for my dirt bike / utility trailer led me into a website I'm now proud to be a part of.

Still Changing Brakes and Clutches

My vision for this site is simple. I want to provide the do-it-yourselfer with quality, inexpensive auto and trailer parts. I also want to share my experience of thirty years in the auto parts industry.

So whether it's Changing Brakes, or building your own Motorcycle Trailer Kit, I'll show you step-by-step how to do it. Any part I recommend, I'll show you how to install and maintain it.

A Tradition Where Service Comes First

My thirty years in the auto parts industry has taught me many important life lessons. The most important one of all though is to give your customers the best service in the industry. My most valued customers are the ones who have trusted my family with their auto and trailer parts needs for over half a century.

At Discount-Trailer-Parts.com, I want to continue my family's tradition of service excellence. Please feel free to contact us with any of your questions for parts prices or installation tips. Click Here To Contact Us.
